Snow could cost UK economy billions
Posted on 07. Jan, 2010 by Matthew Carter in The HomeLet blog
As you know the heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures has caused chaos across the country. Blocked roads, icy pavements, cancelled flights and public transport has resulted in thousands of commuters being unable to get to work, and with so many schools closed many working parents have to stay at home.
FirstCare which provides absence management services is predicting that absences caused by the snow could cost the UK economy £0.5bn a day, which is an unprecedented figure.
With temperatures set to remain near freezing for sometime, UK-wide severe weather warnings of ice are still in place. But here at HomeLet we’re working hard to ensure that our service levels are unaffected so the thousands of letting agents who use our services can rest assured that they’ll still receive that same great level of service that they’re used to.
To keep you up to date, here are some key figures that show how our Referencing teams performed in December:
• 96% of all references completed in 72 hours or less
• 100% of Credit Profile plus references logged using Connect were completed in less than one working day
• 82% of all references were completed within one working day – including comprehensive references
